Well, I have finally gone and done it. I have upgraded my camera and entered the DSLR world. The door between the Point&Shoot world and the DSLR world was heavy and bumped my butt on the way through. It was not an inexpensive transition but I am very happy to have done this. I am not an experienced photographer so I will be in the “Trial & Error” phase for quite some time. I am getting lucky with some shots.
As you will see in this post, my first subject is of the Feline tendency. And, for the record, I had no part in naming “Kitty”. For being a difficult cat, Kitty made a reasonable subject for photography because she liked to sleep and sit around.
So my kit consists of: Canon Rebel EOS XSi 12.2 megapixel camera, 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens. I have played a little bit with both lenses, and quite frankly I am having a tough time with low light conditions. These photos are not really difficult photos nor are they technically impressive. They are just a couple that seemed to be less terrible than some of the others:

I am unsure of what the settings were on this photo because I seem to have misplaced the original. Oh well, I played and it worked.

Settings for this one were:
F/7.1 - Shutter (1/100s) - ISO 800 - Lens (75-300 @ 300)

Settings for this one were:
F/10 - Shutter (1/200s) - ISO 100 - Lens (75-300 @ 300)
Well, thanks for taking the time to stop by. I plan on playing a lot in the near future and perhaps I will be able to display some improvement. I sure did not go into this equipment to use an “Auto Mode” setting. I am going to try to focus on low light settings as this is where I lost some nice photos.
