It has been a couple of days since I posted anything on here. Not too much has been happening from the looks of it. I got to go diving on Saturday morning and as always had a GREAT time. Cedar Hill is such an easy dive and great for any level of diver. Of course there are no real wrecks or anything too exciting. But anybody who wants an easy suit-up, easy entry, little current, respectable vis, any depth you want kind of dive will love it. For those wanting to look at things, Cedar Hill has man made objects to look at starting in about 20 ffw (Feet Fresh Water) down to about 85 ffw. Some items to see are: a claw foot bathtub, a small boat with metal skeleton fishing, 2 bicycles, a wooden Casper, a large “multiple pot” flower planter, a mailbox, a computer, lamps, dresser, many road signs and much more. With this list, there is almost always something unnatural to see. On top of this, I do not know exactly where it bottoms out but I know people that claim to have hit 150 ffw there with it getting deeper still.
No matter how deep it gets, I somehow doubt it will ever become a Tech diving haven. I have see the silt at 80 ffw and at 103 ffw….pretty much the same so something tells me that it will be just as boring at 120’, 140’ and so on. Not too much exciting. Most of the things to see range from 20’ to about 45’ with some as deep as about 85’. With them this shallow, it makes it a perfect spot for the less experienced diver. And this site has one more thing going for it that makes it attractive to many more experienced divers. It is the “best” all round site to dive when the distance travelled is taken into account. Tobermory is another 1 hour each direction which makes for an even longer day when there is already 4+ hours driving included just to get to Cedar Hill and back. To take that 4+ to 6+ hours is tough to do a lot. Especially at today’s gas prices.
For now this post will end here. I will be adding a new post to discuss separate issues.
