Well, I have had nothing to say (good, bad or indifferent) lately and that should have been obvious by the lack of posts. Now is not that different.
So I have been searching for new places to dive which are preferably closer to me that my usual dive site “Cedar Hill”. To my amazement, I had nothing good (in fact nothing at all) in response to questions posted on Scuba Board. I have been actively looking for new places to dive. And I have been pretty lenient in what I would call a dive site. I dive for the love of being underwater. I need very little to the site to catch my interest. Of course the easier the dive and the more interesting components of the site, the more likely I am to want to frequent it. However, I am sure with any diver that loves diving as much as I do, the thought and thrill of checking out a new site is something else.
Of course the planning required for a dive like this is completely different compared to a site that we have dove hundreds of times (like Cedar Hill). But, I believe this will be more than worth it, even if the site is not the best. It will be something different that will require a fair bit of planning ahead of time but in my mind it will be worth it.
As I indicated, there are 2 sites and both are on Lake Ontario. I am still looking for new sites so I will always welcome recommendations. I am also willing to look at what could be BRAND new options (having never had anybody dive it before) as long as we deem it a safe dive with what we know and of course it has to be public property (both water and access). How have you, OR how would you, go about finding new dive sites? In today’s environment, it could be considered MUCH easier. Google Earth is a great tool for seeking out water and seeing specific details about a shoreline (is there parking, does it look like private or public property etc.) This has been what I have used thus far but it is obviously not overly effective because a lot of convenient waterfront property is PRIVATE because we want to be able to profit from it.
So if you are interested in new sites, I will post something about when we will dive these and how it went. Stay tuned if you so choose.
