Winter comes early

Well, it is time for many of us in this area to start fighting the winter Blahs.....

This Frog Fish was oriented this way facing the surface

OK, so here I sit as the winter approaches (first snow has arrived) and I realize, yet again, that winter sucks. I am a diver, not a skier although there is a set underwater at Cedar Hill. And that is another thing about living in this area of Southern Ontario. Other divers are talking about (on a regular basis) going out and diving on sunken Aircraft Carriers or beautiful reefs…..I talk about sunken skis. Give you an idea of the area in which I live?

I want those beautiful reefs and plentiful sea life. Believe it or not, I am not truly complaining about where I live, but I do wish it was closer to waters that are dive able year round. I want to see the Frogfish (see above) every day.

I want to see the turtles every day.

This turtle was trying to hide from me in the coral stand

I want to see the kissing trunk fish every day.

This swear this trunk fish was looking to get fresh

I want to see the Scorpion Fish every day.

This Scorpion Fish was just hiding and being lazy

I want to see the Moray eels every day.

This tiny Golden Moray was as small around as my pinky finger

I want to see the Squid every day.

This squid was just swimming along with us

Because I was having strobe issues with my camera on some of these pictures, they have had the red added back into them. While this is a near true representation of what they looked like, the pictures got somewhat grainy after correction.

Where do you live and what do you wish you could see every day? How long is your dive season? Mine in theory goes from about June to October. That takes the water temperatures from about 45 to about 45 degrees. Above that is manageable, however colder than that and the dives get less (but still) enjoyable.
