FISH HATCHERY
Fish Hatchery is located in Wiarton, just beyond the marina (behing the grocery store) on the north shore of
Colpoys Bay. Unfortunately, I am not 100% certain on directions but asking for directions in town will get you
there.
This site is a convenient dive. There is an outhouse, and a grassy area to suit up and a short walk to the
water. Parking is somewhat limited but the spot is not usually that popular. This is a FREE site, but it is our
responsibility to keep it clean. There is very little in the site that would attract a diver unless you are just
looking to get wet and stay shallow.
Things to watch out for:
- This is Georgian Bay, so water temperatures range from mid thirties in May to high sixties in September.
- More often than not, there is no current which makes for a nice easy dive
- You MUST fly a dive flag for safety. Weight your flag with your own weights or pull it with you
- Inexperienced boaters. Do not surface unless it is close to the shore or an emergency
